Rosh Chodesh is the ancient Jewish practice of marking the start of each month. Jewish feminists took it up as a way to reclaim and reimagine community. Open to all, our Rosh Chodesh meetings will hold space for open dialogue and offer self care practices. We'll mark the start of Cheshvan on Thursday, October 7th at 4:30 in the Center for Gender Equity Lounge (CUC C-207). Open to all women-oriented folks and their allies. Join the Lehigh Women's Network to analyze the gendered elements of bragging and stating fact.

It is estimated that over 500 million people struggle with period poverty, or the lack of access to menstrual products, education, hygiene facilities, waste management, or a combination of these. To help end period poverty in the local Bethlehem community the Center for Gender Equity is accepting menstrual product donations until Friday, October 8th to support the Lehigh Valley Period Project. Donations can be dropped off at the CGE Lounge (CUC C207). The following types of products will be accepted and appreciated: Menstrual cups Reusable pads Period underwear Disposable pads Tampons Pantyliners If you would prefer to make a cash donation, please contact Kate Pitts directly at klp321@lehigh.edu. In addition to the product drive, we’ll be hosting Period Week from October 4th-8th in the lead up to National Period Day. This theatrical program provides an opportunity for audiences to hear, explore and experience each other in a manner that illuminates their similarities rather than their differences. The theatrical piece brings to life accessible characters who are fully human, credible and fallible. The primary objective is to stimulate discussion about the opportunities for greater understanding of diversity and inclusion. Listening to the stories of the characters in the theatrical piece will provide the opportunities to learn about: Exclusion and inclusion in the workplaceFeeling empathy and identification with the charactersSeeing the commonality of our human experience that flows underneath all the storiesOur own unconscious biasYour Story, My Story is a component of our Cornerstones of Community professional development track and participation in this program is an expectation for all supervisors.
