CGE Blackout Poetry
Join the CGE for a spooky blackout poetry event! Participants will be given an excerpt from a novel and asked to create their own piece by blacking out, highlighting, and writing in their own creative vision. The pieces will be read out loud by the group and we will discuss certain themes and ideas in response to everyone’s creativity.

Meditation Outdoors
Join the Center for Gender Equity for a guided meditation exercise. Participants will be given some information on the benefits of being outdoors, be invited to practice in a guided meditation, and will be asked to reflect on how to use the outdoors and meditation to live better. Meditation and reflections will be followed by a group dialogue on how this form of self-care can foster greater creative curiosity in their lives.

Gender Equity 101
In this workshop, we will explore various ways that gendered behaviors and roles may be rewarded, ignored, and devalued in different contexts. We are all social creatures, and in our social interactions, we use past experiences to guide present-day engagements. Sometimes bias takes the lead, discouraging us from learning more about people and avoiding assumptions. We will provide interactive ways for people to think about how they have internalized understandings of gender domination and using a social change model, we will give participants the ability to make commitments to move from gender domination to gender equity.
