CONFERENCE OVERVIEW AND THEME

The 2019 LVAIC Intercollegiate Conference Bridging the Gap Diversity Leadership Summit: Let's Activate! Empower - Advocate - Act will be held on Saturday, October 5th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Lehigh University (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania). This year's conference theme is Let's Activate! Empower - Advocate - Act!  will focus on engaging in academic discussions that social issues that impact their collegiate experience and career goals.  Join student leaders from across the LVAIC institutions: Cedar Crest College, DeSales University, Lafayette College, Lehigh University, Moravian College, Muhlenberg College.  

Attendees will learn how to acknowledge challenges, build resiliency, and empower themselves as current and aspiring student leaders of color.  Registration is free for student leaders in the LVAIC system.  As the date approaches, more information will come on breakout sessions.

 

CONFERENCE REGISTRATION

Online registration begins Wednesday, August 26st and ends Wednesday, September 18th.  Click here to register for the leadership summit.  

 

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

Presentation proposals are currently being accepted for breakout sessions. Summit proposal submission is open to students, faculty, and staff. The submission deadline for proposals is Monday, September 15th and chosen presenters will be notified by Friday, September 20th.

 
This year's conference theme is Let's Activate! Empower - Advocate - Act! will focus on engaging in academic discussions that social issues that impact their collegiate experience and career goals. We are seeking thoughtful proposals to empower student leaders to ACT towards their academic and professional careers - specifically as it applies to them critically examining the world in which they navigate. The conference will focus on acknowledging challenges, building resiliency, and inspiring leaders to achieve success. Please submit proposals via go.lehigh.edu/btgproposals.
 
Potential topics include (but not limited to):
  • Overcoming (perceived) Cultural Bias
  • Developing a Personal Brand
  • Leadership Development
  • Resiliency and Overcoming Adversity
  • Envisioning Your Future
  • Financial Literacy
  • Networking Outside Your Identity Group
  • Community Activism 
  • Civic Engagement
