Umoja House 30th Anniversary: Honor Walk & Block Party
Thirty years ago, 16 students championed together to create a space at Lehigh University that promotes cultural awareness, visibility, and community outreach for all its residents. As the years progressed, the Umoja House has stood the test of time through many trials and triumphs remaining as an edifice that continues to promote unity by upholding the values of Black and Latinx cultures.
On Thursday, October 24th, we’ll join together to honor the founders of the house, who through grit and resilience, shared a vision for a deeper exploration of multiculturalism and diversity. Beginning from the house’s original location - Warren Square A to its current location, The Hill - we will journey together with human storytellers that will recall the journey to the creation of the house. The walk will then commence with an 80’s/90’s block- party.
Afterward, join us for a fun-filled adventure with food trucks, a caricature artist, music, and free food!
