Join us for a presentation by writer, producer and filmmaker Cynthia Martinez, sharing her reflection of her experience as a first generation college student, life post grad and inspiration to direct the film, First Voice Generation. Refreshments will be available.

Join us for the the screening of “First Voice Generation”, a Cynthia Martinez Film. “The First Voice Generation film follows the stories of three Latinx high school students in Holland, Michigan. They struggle with a sense of identity and belonging growing up in this predominantly Dutch community because they are a child of Mexican immigrants. They dream of being the first in their family to go to college but Covid-19 shuts the world down exacerbating their struggles with virtual learning and the cost of affording college seeming impossible.” Q&A with Cynthia Martinez to follow immediately after the screening. This event is part of the weeklong activities around the National First Generation College Celebration.

Join us on November 7th in Zoellner Art's Center's Baker Hall to watch "First Voice First Generation" and have a Q&A with Documentary filmmaker Cynthia Martinez. Doors open at 6:30 pm, Curtain at 7 pm,and Q&A at 8:30 pm.
