Being Eñye | Multicultural Affairs
On Wednesday, October 9th, Latina filmmaker, and cultural storyteller will be on campus for a day of learning & reflection. Denise Soler Cox is an accomplished, mission-based business entrepreneur and motivational speaker turned film director. Fueled by her own identity crisis as a first-generation American Latina born to Puerto Rican parents in New York, Project ñ is a multi-platform media project that explores the universal identity question “Who am I, and where do I fit in?” for one of the fastest-growing populations in the US today: American/US-born Latinos with parents from a Spanish-speaking country. Documentary Screening Being Eñye and Q&A with Denise Soler Cox from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in Whitaker Lab 303. It is free and open to the public.

Bridging the Gap (BTG) LVAIC Student Diversity Summit | Multicultural Affairs
Lehigh University will host the 2019 LVAIC Intercollegiate Conference Bridging the Gap (BTG) Student Diversity Summit. The annual Bridging the Gap (BTG) Diversity Summit provides opportunities for students to explore issues related to diversity in a safe, intellectual environment and offers the unique experience of a social gathering of students from each LVAIC member institution. Initially branded as an annual gathering of the Lehigh University Black Student Union and the Lafayette College Association of Black Collegians, the conference has included the Black and Latino student support groups at each of the participating LVAIC institutions in recent years. Hosted by the Coalition of Diversity Administrators, our 2019 theme "Let's Activate! Empower - Advocate - Act, will be held next Saturday, October 5, 2019, from 12:00 pm-5:30 pm in the University Center, 3rd Floor. This important and timely summit focuses on engaging student leaders in academic discussions about social issues that impact their collegiate experience and career goals. Attendees will learn how to acknowledge challenges, build resiliency, and empower themselves as current and aspiring student leaders. Registration is FREE.

This discussion is about what it feels like emotionally to be mixed and the identity conflicts. Dealing with family members who may be naive to your own race. Talk about colorism, hair care concerns. The focus willl be more on the emotional aspects and media portrayal rather than the historical implications.
