Join the Center for Gender Equity and the Office of Multicultural Affairs for a dilogue on the 2020 Candidates!

Lehigh University is hosting its second annual one-day symposium in advance of the United Nations’ Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). This year’s priority theme is “Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls”. Expanding on this theme, we seek to explore how the work of regional community organizations, educational institutions, and individual faculty, staff, and students (undergraduate and graduate) engage with the theme of “Gender and Empowerment, Access, and Infrastructure” in their work, research, advocacy, and lives. We invite submissions in the format of a brief biography and experience, work, or research statement which together should not exceed 500 words. Upon acceptance, participants will be invited to circulate discussion topics and questions in advance of the symposium. Submission Deadline: Sunday, February 3, 2019 ( send to: som212@lehigh.edu )

2019 Theme: The 2019 Be Your Own theme asks participants to visualize through art-making their spiritual, emotional, or physical relationship with roots, origins, and migrations. People move away from or back to their roots. People reimagine or finally find their origins. People voluntarily and involuntarily migrate in and across borders, elements of their identities, and communities. Join us in making art to make change!

Join us on February 1st for a Shabbat for Peace at Lamberton Hall. Service is at 5:30 pm, Dinner at 6:00 pm. Dinner will be followed by a Be Your Own reflective creation space.
