In the Fall of 1989, the UMOJA House opened its doors for the first time, welcoming students of color to a new community home.  This series tells the story of the founding, a story of black student activism that created a haven for students of African American, Hispanic, Asian and Native American backgrounds. Learn its history from the mouths of the students who conceived of the house, those who lived or spent time there, and the administrators who heard and recognized the need.  Start here to learn why Lehigh celebrated this milestone year for the UMOJA House by “Honoring the Past, and Embracing the Future.”
