Denise comes to this position after serving as General Chemistry Laboratory Manager in the Chemistry Department here at Lehigh for seven years. Denise has been an active participant in engaging students at the university including recently as a cluster facilitate at the LeaderShape Institute for university students, being the advisor for the campus’s National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) chapter as well as the Gamma Omicron Chapter of the professional fraternity Alpha Chi Sigma. Denise has a long history of participating with local, regional and national academic and non-academic outreach and volunteerism efforts with organizations including Girls Scouts of  the United States of America, American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the American Chemical Society. Denise is a past recipient of the university’s Alfred Noble Robinson Award recognizing a staff members’ outstanding performance in service to the university as well as the university student decided award for Club/Organization Advisor of the Year.


As Director, Denise will be responsible for implementation and coordination of the strategic initiatives of the Center for Student Access and Success, seeking to expand access to the university’s high-impact opportunities for all students with a focus on first-generation and lower-income students. Denise will work with the American Talent Initiative (ATI),  provide oversight of the Lehigh University Student Scholars Institute (LUSSI), a program  where she has been an advocate for students as an instructor during the summer bridging program, as well as advise the F1RST Club for first-generation students.
